Mr. Rosellini Turns 30

Since I was already halfway there (from New York), it worked out well, travel-wise. Above, he’s with girlfriend Amanda at the dinner table at Spinasse.
We had a bit of a pre-dinner cocktail party…
…in MR’s sweet Capitol Hill pad. This was once a castle occupied by Genghis Khan after he crossed the Bering Strait.
MR is a man of refined epicurean taste, and a great cook in his own right. You know that if he gets excited about a restaurant, it’s going to be good. And you also know that you should defer to his opinion on what you should order. Which we all did.
Well, except that blonde girl on the left, who was on a hunger strike to show her support of the election protesters in Tehran. Quite noble, really.

From left: Jack, Eric, Julia.
The guy below wasn’t part of our group. I’m just including this shot to show you how cool the restaurant is.
MR and Amanda plot consider whether to order everything on the menu, or merely 95% of it. The helpful waitress explains the pros and cons.
After dinner, we went down to Pioneer Square and got in a fight with some skinheads. For now, I’m complying with the pigs, who have asked me not to post photos until the inquiry is closed.
The next morning, we all had brunch at The Corson Building.
The staff was nice enough to give me permission to take photos of the kitchen, which, as you can see, is beautiful and spotless and could practically be a dining room in itself.
To give you sense of scale, the shot below shows you about half of the entire building. In the foreground is one of three tables. In the middleground, through the first window apace, you can see the server prep area, and beyond that, the kitchen. Cozy and yet spacious.
Afterward, there was a bit of walking around the local farmer’s market.
“That blonde girl on the left” has a name. I thought you may have known that since you sat across from her the entire evening.
Actually, as you can see from the photo, I was at the other end of the table. Let me guess: Jennifer? Martha? Adelaide?
Or, perhaps it wasn’t you who sat across from her?
It’s too bad we didn’t sit closer. You seem quite entertaining.
