Except we are really spoiled in delis and supermarkets (except you can't think because it's so crowded) - in those delis the people preparing your order are the fastest in the world and in the supermarket they are doing everything to make you buy. So mix that with a food or farm coop and you have contrasts. My farm coop is wonderful and I wouldn't trade it but it isn't as easy going to pickups as it is going to the store. Except now I don't go to the store if I can avoid it because my farm coop's offerings (and those of the greenmarket) are vastly superior while the supermarket's are likely to be poisonous! One thing, though- I keep hearing altering experiences of rudeness and comaraderie - I don't go grocery shopping anywhere for comrades (nor do I go to be treated impolitely) Everything has its place. The guy in the cheese shop knows something about cheese, so that's a worthwhile enterprise, too.
